Canterbury Construction, Inc. was started in May of 1965 by Sam and Clare Canterbury, and is still, today, a family owned and operated business that takes extreme pride in the quality of the homes they build. Michael Canterbury, as the General Manager, and Samuel Canterbury, as the Superintendent, ensures that quality and attention to detail remain at the forefront of our business practices.
Canterbury Design and Construction, LLC is the oldest building company in the Rockport-Fulton area of the Texas Gulf Coast. We have been designing and building homes and other structures in order to withstand the extreme forces of the many thunderstorms and hurricanes that have hit our area over the last 47 years.
Canterbury Design and Construction has designed and built many custom homes, ranch houses, guest quarters, metal barns, custom garages (or “man caves”), schools, office buildings, and a three-story motel. We have even built tree houses for our clients’ grandchildren!

We always strive to incorporate the very best proven design criteria for our wooden structures as well as our concrete and steel structures. We have a video, filmed by the proud owner of a home that was designed and built by Canterbury Design and Construction, of Hurricane Celia, taken from inside his residence. He stayed in his home throughout the hurricane and was able to capture the Category 3 storm in progress. Sam Canterbury filmed the area after the storm and documented the devastation of the majority of the homes in the area; however, all of the homes that had been designed and built by Canterbury Design and Construction remained completely unscathed by the sustained winds of 120 to 130 mph and wind gusts that had reached up to 160 miles per hour. This video shows exactly why we are dedicated to building the best possible structures for your projects.
