Build Your Texas Coastal Bend Steel Frame Home with Canterbury Design and Construction, LLC

Steel has the highest strength to weight ratio of any building material being used in the home building industry today.  Steel is one of the strongest, most durable, and economically manufactured materials.  Steel is also one of the "greenest" building materials because it is 100% recyclable.  Steel is the primary structural material used in over 80% of all commercial construction.  Steel is stronger, straighter, non-combustible, and is an undeniably superior building material.

    • Steel is fire resistant.  Since it is non-combustible, it does not contribute to the spread of fire.
    • Steel is termite-proof.
    • Steel allows for higher insulation ratings: the thickness of steel walls allows for R-30 rated insulation.  This helps lower your energy bills and your steel framed home will be quieter due to the thicker walls.  There is usually a minimum of 9" of thickness.
    • Steel provides the strength for safety from hurricanes, storms, and tornadoes.  Steel frame homes have withstood hurricanes and tornadoes with little to no damage.  Steel frame homes can easily be designed to withstand 155 miles per hour wind loads.
    • Steel frame homes can be approved for seismic zone 4 ratings.  This is the highest rating required in the United States.  This attests to the quality and strength of steel framed structures.
